EgyptAir To Buy 12 Boeing Passenger Jets For $850 Mln

CAIRO (AP)--Egypt's EgyptAir Holding Company (EGA.YY) will buy 12 passenger jets worth $850 million from U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing (BA), EgyptAir Airline chairman Sherif Galal said Friday.
Galal said the company will sign a contract next week agreeing to buy 12 Boeing 737-800 planes. The company will start receiving the planes in mid 2006 and until the end of 2007.
He said the new planes will be flown to European and Middle Eastern cities.
The purchase will be made in a bid to boost EgyptAir's fleet to accommodate an anticipated increase in passengers in the coming years, he said.
