Flybe εξαγοράζει την BA Connect

Flybe announces that it has reached agreement in principle with British Airways whereby it will acquire British Airways’ BA Connect regional airline business, subject to a number of conditions precedent including the completion of due diligence.

The proposed acquisition will create an enlarged business with over £600m in revenues and carrying nearly 10 million passengers. The business will be operated in line with the successful Flybe business model concentrating on short haul domestic and European major city markets.

British Airways announced today that it has reached agreement in principle to sell the regional operation of its subsidiary airline BA Connect to Exeter based Flybe.

BA Connect also operates from London City Airport and between Manchester and New York. These services will not be impacted by the proposed changes.

It is envisaged that once the sale of BA Connect to Flybe will be completed later this year, there will be a transition period until the start of the summer schedule on March 25, 2007 while the handover of responsibilities is undertaken.

Willie Walsh, British Airways chief executive said: “Point to point regional operations are not a strategic part of our business and we believe that such activities are better undertaken by a regional low cost airline.

“Despite the best efforts of the entire team at BA Connect, we do not see any prospect of profitability in its current form.

“The proposed sale to Flybe provides the best opportunity to secure the long-term future for the many dedicated staff in BA Connect. British Airways will have a 15 percent investment in Flybe on completion of the disposal.

“London City services complement our mainline business at Heathrow. For this reason they are not included in the proposed sale.”

Αναδιάρθρωση Flybe

Δύσκολοι καιροί για τη Flybe. Αναβολή των μισών παραδόσεων των Embraer για τουλάχιστον τρία έτη, απόσυρση από το Γκάτγουικ και πώληση slots στην easyJet έναντι £20 εκ. είναι μερικά από τα μέτρα που πάρθηκαν για την αναδιάρθρωση της εταιρείας και τον περιορισμό του κόστους.
 
Eκτός των μετρητών για τις χρονοθυρίδες, η flybe τσίμπησε και κανα 2 στελέχη της εύκολης, ξεχωρίζει βέβαια η μετακίνηση του Simmons, έπαιξε πολύ στα βρετανικά μμε η αποχώρηση του απ΄την U2. Για να δούμε, θα το γυρίσουν το μαγαζί;

Επίσης ανακοίνωσαν συνεργασία με τσαρτερομπροκερά, πιθανότατα του χρόνου να βλέπουμε τα Embraer τους κι απο εδώ - αν βγαίνει το range.
 
Στα πρόθυρα της κατάρρευσης η εταιρεία που σύμφωνα με το Sky News ψάχνει πρόσθετη χρηματοδότηση παρά την πρόσφατη εξαγορά της από Virgin Atlantic - Stobart - Cyrus Capital Partners.
