Lumiwings (L9,
Foggia Gino Lisa) has been left without any aircraft after a London judge ordered the carrier to return its only
E195 to lessor
Azorra, according to ch-aviation research.
"We confirm we have obtained the assistance of the English court to ground an aircraft which was previously on lease to Lumiwings. This legal action arises from Lumiwings’ ongoing operation of the aircraft after the leasing was terminated. While initiating litigation against a customer is never our preferred course of action, we must act to protect our interests and uphold the integrity of our agreements," a spokeswoman for Azorra told ch-aviation.
This follows a remote hearing on October 10 when the London Circuit Commercial Court, sitting as part of the King’s Bench Division, ruled in favour of
Wilmington Trust SP Services (Dublin) acting as trustee for Azorra. The case is Wilmington Trust SP Services (Dublin) Limited v. Lumiwings Anonymi Aeroporiki Etaireia S.A., case number LM-2025-000293.
It’s official: from November 1 the management of connections from Foggia’s "Gino Lisa" will move from Lumiwings to Aeroitalia. The prospect of the Apulian entrepreneur
Daniele Azzarone entering Lumiwings’ shareholding —who would have had to acquire the troubled Greek airline— has instead fallen through. In recent days the carrier’s financial crisis had surfaced with delays in payments to suppliers: some routes were cancelled and about sixty passengers were left stranded, causing disruption and a significant reputational impact.
