I will miss it

We are very sad to inform you that now France, Land of Freeddom, is become more restrictive about our hobby.

Due to a new prefectoral decree, taking pictures of anything from the public area to the restricted one is strictly forbidden.

You risk about 350 euros of amende

For the moment, binoculars are not listed, but we are not able to garantee you that you will be allowed to use them end stay along border fences.

Have all the SBS1 sites closed down? the 2 that I was monitoring have
closed down, MTIA.

Regards Gary

Hi Gary et all,

Yes they have "closed down" - although it more a case of they have BEEN
closed down. All sites with SBS-1 of UK airspace have been contacted by
OFCOM (The Gov't Dept for radio communications) and "asked" to take down
their feed. The same applies to all UK sites re-broadcasting UK ATC - all
closed down "at the request of OFCOM".

And the reason why? They were all quoted the "Wireless & Telegraphy Act" -
more specifically that it is forbidden to listen to ATC within the UK.

However, a friend of mine, a journalist with a national paper, has done
some digging. He found out it is actually because of the exposure given to
scanners/SBS-1 with regard to the story of US transporting
terrorist-suspects on biz-jets thru UK airports. Big brother strikes again.

Fencing seems the rage at the moment, along the whole airside at the hangar area - Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport high fencing is now being installed in front of all the hangars plus a series of CCTV camera's. The only gaps are at the taxyways to the different KLM, Transavia and MPH hangars. Aviation enthusiasts who work for the different airlines and have access to these areas should be on the alert, officially you should have permission from the Schiphol Airport Authority to take photographs airside. I know some people in the past 6 months have been questions when taking photos.

Security is being stepped up, be warned even if you have permission to work in the various technical areas it doesn't give you the right of access to every hangar. Security personnel are in and out of the different hangars all day, even aircraft which are to be towed from the technical area to the operational side are being checked for unauthorised persons. This may have something to do with the diamond robbery last year at Schiphol and/or a general crackdown on security which is happening all over Europe. Look at what is happening over in France eg.Paris area.

Finally, a few weeks ago if the report is correct the US authorities had asked the different European countries to close down viewing areas etc. Anyone with details on this report. Looks like they want everyone to go back to train spotting. Aviation Enthusiasts/spotters etc the world over are the unpayed eyes and ears of the Security Services. I'm sure if there was somebody was acting in a strange manner or heaven help us with a shoulder launched missile walking around Schiphol or Heathrow viewing area's the enthusiast/spotter would be the first to call the security services.

Σχετικά με το CDG, πάλι από την CAE.

This is a new prefectoral decree, published the 7th of november. It's about
the police at CDG airport. The 8th title, 32th article contains an specific
alinea (#5) which about photography. Taking picture is now strictly
forbidden from the public area to the restricted area. For
the moment, this decree only talks about photography.

We are very sad about it. Especially because, on our last meeting with
authorities, the situation seemed to be on the right way. And now, all is
going wrong.

Regarding binoculars (and taking registration), nothing appears on the
decree. But I am not able to confirm that this activity will be tolerate
anymore.

We decide to create a petition. We'll meet ADP next thursday, and we'll talk
about this new decree, and of course what we can do to continue our hobby.

Stephane.
