Gulf Air today announced the commencement of code sharing operations with Qantas, the national airline of Australia.
The President and Chief Executive of Gulf Air, James Hogan, said Qantas would place its code on Gulf Air flights between Singapore and Bahrain and Beirut. The agreement also covers services to Athens, Cairo and Dubai, which will be commenced when the necessary government approvals are in place.
“The expanded relationship between Gulf Air and Qantas will offer customers more choice for travel between Australia and the Middle East and the Levant, with convenient schedules and excellent connections,” Mr Hogan said.
While Gulf Air will clearly benefit from Qantas’ extensive distribution network and established market in Australia and the Antipodes, the code-share means that the Qantas network has been extended to offer customers more destinations and greater choice.
“This is in line with our objective to establish strategic partnerships and alliances to complement and add value to Gulf Air’s network, which is fundamental to our customer service ethos,” he said.
“We hope to better serve and create more opportunity for the large communities of Lebanese and Arab nationals who live work and do business in Australia.”
