Η ΒΑ βαζει Α319 στο δρομολογιο της Θεσσαλονικης απο 27/10. BA2642 LGW 0840-1400 SKG, BA2643 SKG 1455-1630 LGW, 319, 1-3-567.

H BA ανακοινωσε οτι αγοραζει 6 B777-300ΕR και 4 options. Τα αεροσκαφοι θα αντικαταστησουν τα ποιο παλαια Β747-400 της εταιριας.
Επισης η εταιρια ανακοινωσε αλλαγες στα δρομολογια της απο τον Νοεμβριο λογο της παγκοσμιας οικονομικης υφεσης.
Σταματανε τα δρομολογια απο Gatwick προς Newquay, Poznan, Dresden και Sarajevo. Ενω δρομολογια που ειχαν ανακοινωθη προς Valencia και Porto δεν θα ξεκινησουν. Θα ξεκινηση ομως κανονικα το δρομολογιο προς New York με Β777 οπως ειχε ανακοινωθη. Επισης το νεο δρομολογιο προς Hyderbad, India απο Heathrow θα καθηστερηση να ξεκινηση εως τα μεσα Δεκεμβριου. Απο Heathrow επισης μειωνουνται συχνοτητες δρομολογιων προς διαφορους προορισμους οπως Manchester, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Paris. H θυγατρικη Open Skies ξεκιναει δρομολογια απο Αμστερνταμ προς Νεα Υορκη.

BA to join forces with American Airlines and Iberia

British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia are to join forces on flights between north America and Europe, it was announced today (Thursday August 14).

The airlines have agreed in principle to a joint business agreement covering flights between the US, Mexico and Canada and the EU, Switzerland and Norway.

It will also expand BA's codeshare arrangements with American on flights within and beyond the EU and the US, significantly increasing the number of destinations BA can offer.

In the first steps towards sealing the deal, the airlines are applying today for worldwide anti-trust immunity from the US Department of Transportation. The European Commission will also review the deal.

Chief executive Willie Walsh said: "Having a joint business agreement would give us the green light to share revenue and co-ordinate our flight schedules, fares and networks.

"Consolidation is fundamental to the way our industry is reacting to the worst trading conditions we have ever seen."

The deal could also help strengthen oneworld and help it to compete more effectively with other global alliances. Six airlines in SkyTeam and nine in Star Alliance already have anti-trust immunity and are growing stronger through consolidation.

It is hoped that a decision over regulatory approval will be reached within several months.

Ήρθε και η αντίδραση απο τη μεριά του Sir Branson σχετικά με την συμφωνία ΑΑ και ΒΑ. Ένας τρόπος αντίδρασης θα είναι: Sir Richard promised to mount a strong campaign against the merger, unveiling a slogan to be painted on all Virgin Atlantic planes, which read: "No way BA/AA".

Μα,εχει γινει αυτο! Το 2001 θυμαμαι να εχω τραβηξει στο EGKK ενα 742 της VS, με εξτρα τιτλους "No way BA/AA". Θα τα ξαναδουμε ,λετε, και πανω στα νεα χρωματα?

British Airways has challenged Virgin president Sir Richard Branson to answer six crucial questions on why he opposes BA’s application for a transatlantic tie-up with American Airlines.

British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia have agreed in principle to a joint business agreement covering flights between the US, Mexico and Canada and the EU, Switzerland and Norway.

It will also expand BA’s codeshare arrangements with American on flights within and beyond the EU and the US, significantly increasing the number of destinations BA can offer.

The questions BA has asked Virgin are:

Why is it fair for Lufthansa and Air France/KLM to have anti-trust immunity (ATI) with their US alliance partners, but not British Airways?
What is there to stop Virgin Atlantic seeking an alliance partner and applying for ATI?
If BA and American Airlines used their alliance to put up fares and reduce service levels, as Virgin alleges, surely this would give Virgin a huge competitive opportunity?
If BA/AA is approved, there will still be seven EU or US airlines flying to America from Heathrow – and nothing to stop others starting. This is far more than from any other European airport. Why is it uncompetitive?
BA/AA’s market share on transatlantic routes from Heathrow (51pc) is much smaller than the Lufthansa/Star alliance from Frankfurt (80pc) or the Air France/Skyteam alliance from Paris (73pc). Why would the competition authorities regard BA/AA’s position as unfair?
Why does Virgin have a “monster monopoly” on fast train services between London and Manchester – and why does it want to create another one running Gatwick airport?

Chief executive Willie Walsh said: “Competition will not disappear if our partnership with American goes ahead. If, as Virgin claims, our venture somehow led to higher fares and poorer services, we would be leaving an open goal for the competition – and our customers would vote with their feet.

“Our operation with American would improve customer service. It would provide not only better connections but also greater access to discounted fares, reciprocal frequent flier benefits and, for corporate customers, more flexible and geographically extensive deals.”

Η ΒΑ στα Α319 της, εχει συστημα Inflight Entertainment? Το ρωταω αυτο διοτι σκεφτομαι να την προτιμησω για ενα ταξιδι αλλα απο το site tης, δεν εβγαλα ακρη για το αν εχει ή οχι.Οποιος το εχει δοκιμασει (ή εχει καποια εμπειρια απο τα 737 που πετανε τωρα στο δρομολογιο για Θεσ/νικη) ας βοηθησει.
