Thai Airways has placed an order with Airbus for 8 new aircraft, including 6 A380s. The aircraft are due for delivery from 2008 to 2009. In addition the airline ordered an A340-500 for delivery in 2007 and an A340-600 for delivery in 2008.

Air China has finalized an order for 7 Boeing 737-700s. Delivery of the aircraft will occur from November 2005 to mid-2006.

Cebu Pacific will buy 12 Airbus A319s to replace its fleet of 12 Douglas DC9s with deliery to occur from September 2005 to 2007. In addition the airline will lease 2 Airbus A320s to replace its fleet of Boeing 757s. Cebu currently operates 3. The A320s are to be leased for 5 years and will arrive in April and May 2005.

Transnet Ltd., South Africa's state- owned transport company, plans to relinquish its ownership of South African Airways and cancel some Airbuses it had on order. Of 38 Airbus airliners on order, 15 will be canceled and 16 planes will be leased rather than purchased.
South African Airways is dropping plans to buy 15 Airbus A320-200s due for delivery in 2010. Another 16 aircraft will be leased rather than bought, they are 5 A340-300s and 11 A319-100s.

Lufthansa said Tuesday it was looking for a successor to replace its fleet of Boeing 737 jets as well as a new model for its regional routes. The airline is planning talks with Airbus and Boeing as it looks for a replacement of its current fleet of 59 Boeing 737s.

Ryanair took delivery of Boeing's 800th B737-800 on Wednesday. The airline also took nbr 801 this week taking its total number of 737NGs to 57. Ryanair has another 98 on order, which are scheduled for delivery through 2008.
At the end of July 2004, Boeing had won orders for 1,167 B737-800s and had delivered 793 to 52 operators around the world.

Malaysian low cost Air Asia took delivery of its 19th Boeing 737-300 this week after the aircraft underwent an extensive refurbishment and overhaul by ST Aerospace Engineering in Singapore.

:arrow: Aeromexico will acquire 10 more Boeing 737-700s ; 8 aircraft have been ordered directly from Boeing and 2 will be leased. Delivery is scheduled from July to December 2005. The airline already ordered 15 B737-700s in 2003, 10 of these have already been delivered.

:arrow: Copa ordered 2 Boeing 737-700s. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2006. In addition the airline will take delivery of a B737-700 and B737-800 in 2005, these aircraft will be leased. With this order the airline's fleet will total 20 B737-700s and 4 B737-800s.

:arrow: Qatar Airways, which operates a fleet of Airbus A330-200s, is about to take delivery of its first A330-300. The aircraft will be re-registered A7-AEA.

:arrow: Chautauqua Airlines will take delivery of its first two Embraer 170s at the end of the month. They will be operated on behalf of United Express and should be in service by the end of next month. The 170s are expected to be transferred to sister company Republic Airlines which is expecting its certificate from the FAA, Republic has 22 ERJ170s on firm order.

:arrow: The TACA airline group said on Monday it would by 4 Airbuses this year, 3 would be A320s and 1 A319. This will take the airline's fleet of Airbuses to 32 aircraft.

:arrow: China Southern Airlines Northern Company is going to introduce 23 Airbus A320 Family aircraft to replace its MD82 and MD90 aircraft. The aircraft will be leased from the ILFC (International Lease Finance Corporation). The airline has taken delivery of 4 A319s this year and will receive 7 more A319s in 2005. The remaining 12 will be either A319 or A320 aircraft, 6 in 2006 and 6 in 2007. The aircraft will join the company's current Airbus fleet, which comprises eight A321s and six A300-600s.

:arrow: Syrianair is looking to buy 7 aircraft to replace some of its older aircraft. At least part of these will be large capacity aircraft. It is likely the airline will place an order with Airbus.

:arrow: Turkish Airlines has taken delivery of its 1st Airbus A321.

:arrow: CSA was expected to receive final offers from Airbus and Boeing on Wednesday and wants to make a final decision by October 30th. The airline is looking to order 12 A320s or B737s with delivery starting in 2005. CSA wants to increase its fleet from 35 to 63 aircraft by 2014. In addition CSA is looking at leasing 4 longer range aircraft and will likely make a decision next year.

:arrow: DBA is currently in talks with Airbus and Boeing about an order for 24 new aircraft. Under consideration are the A319 and B737-700. DBA now operates 15 Boeing 737-300s and wants to increase its fleet to 24 planes by the end of 2008.

The airline also announced new service from Washington Dulles to Orlando and Tampa starting on November 3rd.

:arrow: Tampa Cargo has added its first Boeing 767-200 Freighter to its fleet. The aircraft also wears a revised colorscheme. It is seen below stopping at Schiphol Airport on its delivery flight from Tel Aviv to Colombia. The aircraft was previously operated by Varig as PP-VNQ.

:arrow: Air Hong Kong has received the first of its six new A300-600 freighters, becoming the launch operator for the A300-600F General Freighter. The delivery at Airbus in Toulouse, France was followed by a ceremony in Hong Kong on the aircraft's arrival. The first A300-600F General Freighter, painted in the new livery of the airline, will enter into service this month, operating from Bangkok to Penang. Five more aircraft are scheduled for delivery to the airline between now and the end of the first quarter 2005.

:arrow: VLM will increase its fleet from 12 to 14 Fokker 50s before the end of the year. Aircraft 13, registered OO-VLL, is expected to arrive any day and will be used on the London City to Jersey route. Aircraft 14, registered OO-VLZ will arrive in November and will be used for charters. Both aircraft had previously been operated by Air Iceland.

ΤΕΣΣΕΡΑ αεροσκάφη, τύπου Boeing 7Ε7, στο πλαίσιο της επέκτασής της σε υπερατλαντικά ταξίδια, καθώς ετοιμάζεται να ξεκινήσει απ' ευθείας πτήσεις στις ΗΠΑ, πρόκειται να αγοράσει η κρατική αεροπορική εταιρεία του Βιετνάμ, Vietnam Airlines Corp.

Το πρώτο από τα νέα αεροσκάφη, τα οποία κοστίζουν περίπου 125 εκατ. δολ. το κάθε ένα, θα παραδοθεί μέχρι το 2010, ανέφερε χθες ο επικεφαλής της εταιρείας, Nguyen Huan Hien, μετά την εορταστική εκδήλωση στο Ανόϊ για την απόκτηση του τελευταίου από τα τέσσερα Boeing 777, που παρήγγειλε το 2001. Η αεροπορική εταιρεία ζήτησε την έγκριση της κυβέρνησης να αγοράσει νέα αεροσκάφη, συμπλήρωσε ο Hien.

«Η κυβέρνηση μαζεύει τις απόψεις των υπουργείων που εμπλέκονται», ανέφερε ο Hien, συμπληρώνοντας: «Με δεδομένο ότι το σχέδιο θα εγκριθεί μέχρι τα τέλη του έτους, θα είμαστε ένας από τους πρώτους ομίλους που θα κάνουν την παραγγελία τους για την αγορά των αεροσκαφών».

Η Vietnam Air είναι η δεύτερη ασιατική εταιρεία που θα υπογράψει για την αγορά των 7Ε7, το πρώτο καινούργιο μοντέλο της Boeing μετά από 15 χρόνια, μετά την παραγγελία τον Ιούλιο, για 50 αεροσκάφη από την All Nippon Airways Co.

Η Boeing, με έδρα το Σικάγο, βασίζεται στις ασιατικές εταιρείες να αγοράσουν τα αεροσκάφη της, καθώς έχουν κατά 20% χαμηλότερο κόστος σε υπερατλαντικές πτήσεις στη Β. Αμερική και την Ευρώπη. Τον περασμένο μήνα, η Singapore Airlines Ltd., ανακοίνωσε ότι δεν θα προχωρήσει στην αγορά Boeing 7E7, καθώς προτιμά περισσότερα μοντέλα Boeing 777.

Τα αεροσκάφη τύπου 7Ε7 που υποσχέθηκε η Boeing, θα καταναλώνουν κατά 1/5 λιγότερα καύσιμα, από ό,τι καταναλώνουν οι άλλοι τύποι αεροσκαφών θα μεταφέρουν 200 με 300 επιβάτες και θα αρχίσουν να πετούν το 2008.

Η Vietnam Air υπέγραψε τον Ιούνιο μία επιστολή, με την οποία εξέφραζε την επιθυμία της να αγοράσει αεροσκάφη 7 Ε7, σύμφωνα με την Boeing.

Τον Ιούλιο, η αεροπορική εταιρεία, άρχισε την παραλαβή πέντε αεροσκαφών τύπου Airbus A-321, τα οποία είχε παραγγείλει το 2002, ενώ υπέγραψε και με τη μεγαλύτερη κατασκευάστρια εμπορικών αεροσκαφών στον κόσμο επιστολή, για την αγορά άλλων 10 αεροσκαφών τύπου Α-320, μέχρι το 2010.

Δε νομίζω να είναι firm order. Μάλλον MOU (memorandum of understanding) υπογράψανε, που σημαίνει ότι θα γίνει εντός ολίγου το firm order. Toυλάχιστον, έτσι λέει το ATW, το οποίο το θεωρώ πολύ πιο αξιόπιστο από τη ναυτεμπορική στον τομέα αυτό!

Vietnam Airlines is however in talks to lease an additional 2 B777s and the airline could by another 15 in the longer term.
